Incompatibility of quantum measurements
Andreas Bluhm
One of the most counterintuitive statements about quantum mechanics is that the position and the measurement of a particle cannot be determined at the same time. This is an instance of measurement incompatibility: Two measurements are compatible if there exists a third one which implements both of them at the same time. In this talk, we will give an introduction to measurement incompatibility and its use in quantum information theory. We will show in particular how one can quantify the maximal amount of incompatibility in a quantum system by making a link to non-commutative optimization.
