Quantum Enhanced Measurements and Functional Testing of Quantum Chips
Giovanni Gramegna
Using quantum properties of systems it is possible to enhance the precision achievable in the measurement of physical quantities. After introducing some basic concepts of quantum metrology, I will talk about some of the possible quantum properties which can be used as resources in high-precision measurements. On the other hand, in some situations an experimenter is not interested in the most precise estimation of some unknown parameter, but rather to determine as fast as possible if it is in some confidence interval or not. This is the approach adopted in the Functional Testing scenario, where one wants to determine if some given (quantum) device performs according to the specifications or not, and it is desirable to reach a conclusion as fast as possible. I will explore some ideas which can be used to speed up the testing process, such as repetition of the channel to be tested and bayesian experimental design.
